ABOUT

Park Cottage is a 200 year old charmingly converted coach house situated down a secluded drive in a quiet location.  Ridgewood, Nr. Uckfield provides easy access to the many attractions in and around the beautiful countryside with the South Downs and Coastline.  Attractions in the area include Glyndebourne Opera House, the historic town of Lewes, the Royal town of Tunbridge Wells and the City of Brighton.   

     

Guests are greeted on arrival with tea and homemade cake, which can be served either in the kitchen, sitting room or under the vine covered pergola in the walled garden, if weather permits.    The attractive sheltered walled garden is a peaceful place to sit and relax.  A gate leads out onto the parkland where guests can stroll and enjoy the scenery. 

Breakfast - A full english breakfast is served along with homemade compotes, fresh fruit, cereals, a selection of artisan breads and homemade jams and local honey.
Garden - The  walled garden comes to life in the summer with beautiful  scented roses, peonies and lavender.  On a warm summer's day tea is served under the vine and jasmine covered pergola allowing complete relaxation.

Rooms - Tea, coffee and homemade biscuits are provided in both rooms.  For those staying for more than one night, the beds are        re-made and bathrooms cleaned before your return in the afternoon.

Tea and Cake - Afternoon tea is offered on arrival with a selection of four delicious homemade cakes and a large array of teas and refreshing sparkling drinks are available to choose from.

ROOMS

Both en-suite bedrooms are bright and fresh and well furnished with luxurious linen on extremely comfortable king sized beds. Each tranquil bedroom is individually decorated and has coffee, teas, fresh milk and homemade biscuits supplied on the tea tray. The bathrooms are stocked with wonderful smelling products and both rooms have a television and powerful hairdryer.

Master bedroom:  The room is extremely spacious with a super kingsized bed, sofa and armchair. Relax in this bright room with sash windows, looking over the courtyard and large oak tree. The ensuite bathroom consists of a white marble topped basin, bath, loo and separate shower.

Price: £140 per night.

Garden bedroom: This room has a super kingsized bed and is decorated with calming green and dusty pink decor.  The view from the room over looks the walled garden and onto the parkland beyond.  The smaller of the two ensuites has a bath, handheld shower, washbasin and loo.

Price: £120 per night.

THINGS TO DO

  • Park Cottage is the ideal location to stay if going to the world famous Glyndebourne opera. This is situated in gorgeous parkland in the heart of the Sussex Countryside.

  • Close by is Charleston Farmhouse of Bloomsbury group fame with unique painted interiors, beautiful walled garden and an art gallery in a newly renovated barn. Continuing with the Bloomsbury theme is The Monkhouse in nearby Rodmell which is the charmingly preserved home of Virginia Woolfe.

  • Six miles away is the county town of Lewes with it’s specialist independent shops, historical buildings and on certain days the subtle aroma of brewing hops permeating from Harvey’s Brewery.

  • If needing to entertain children there is Drusillas Park - a small zoo with around 200 different species of animals with many interactive sections throughout. There is also an extremely popular well thought out adventure playground.

  • Close to Drusillas is the Rathfinny Wine Estate which is situated in the South Downs on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Alfriston, which in itself is well worth a visit. The Vineyard has a restaurant overlooking stunning views.

Proceed along the A22 until the Little Horsted roundabout.  Turn left to Ridgewood.  Pass a 30mph sign and take first turning to the right (approximately ½ mile from the roundabout) into New Road.  About 100yds along this road there is a concealed driveway on the right hand side and this is immediately after the second set of road humps almost opposite a ‘Playground' sign . Turn into this and Park Cottage is the second house on the left behind a brick wall.  Park in the courtyard.

From Lewes:
